Day 4: Sataf Tiyul, Machaneh Yehuda, Knesset

Today the group started the day hiking in Ein Sataf and Ein Bikura, passing through olive groves, discovering an ancient olive press, and tracing the oldest remnants of agriculture in the region.

MBI had lunch at Machaneh Yehuda, which is a huge open air market in Jerusalem. Though some were initially surprised that it didn't look like a shopping mall or grocery store, soon MBIers were exploring the different parts of the market and buying things like fruit, snacks, and candy. Others were buying spices and/or Judaica to take home after MBI. They also had a group activity to do in the market as a way to keep their eyes out for new things.

Then, MBI went to the Knesset (Israel’s Parliament) and Supreme Court. They did a mock trial of a couple different issues in Israel. They were able to discuss the complexities of the situations and how court cases relate to different Jewish laws. They also discussed things going on in the Labor Court of Israel.

The group has spent the past couple of days getting to know their kvusah! It has been a new experience for many as this is the first time they are experiencing a new kvusah in Habonim Dror. However our madrachim are working hard and the participants are working even harder to forge new relationships!
